Agfa AgfaScan XY-15
Not New
Maximum performance' spec. Capable of handling both reflective and transparent originals, the AgfaScan XY-15 features an oversize A3 format that supports input sizes of up to 13.8×17.9 inches for transparencies and 13.8×18.5 inches for reflective materials.
A fixed, top-surface glass allows unrestricted size and depth of originals to be scanned. It is possible to scan a three-dimensional object or up to 100 35mm transparencies distributed across the bed. A built-in light table and mounting hardware make handling originals easy.
The XY-15 uses an 8,000-element trilinear CCD array manufactured by Kodak. It is specified to achieve a maximum density of 4.1 (with a dynamic range of 3.9) at a true, 16-bit-per-channel scanning depth and a maximum optical resolution of 5,000 pixels per inch.
One of the key technological features of the scanner is what Fuji calls XY-Zoom technology to enable any type of original, located anywhere on the bed, to be scanned at the highest resolution supported by the machine. As part of this operation, the scanning head moves to any position on the bed via servo motors and lead drives. Then a variable-focus zoom lens is employed to achieve the required resolution for the original image being scanned.
Illumination is provided by two sources of broadband fluorescent lighting (one each for reflective and transmissive originals). The lighting assembly includes a stable housing to protect the illumination and keep it in sync with the motion of the scanner.
Single-pass scanning. The XY-15 uses a zoom lens and xy movement to scan at full resolution anywhere on the bed in a single pass. Regardless of where the originals are placed or what size they are, the scanner adjusts to achieve the required resolution (although for large originals interpolation of data is necessary).
